Dell's XPS 14 notebook sports a slim design at 13.2 x 9.2 x .81 and a weight of 4.6 pounds. It offers either an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, 4GB of RAM and a solid state drive (up to 512GB supported). In terms of connectivity, the XPS 14 features a pair of USB ports, an HDMI port and mini Display Port, with an SD card reader thrown in to boot. Alongside Wi-Fi, the XPS 14 features Dell NetReady for pay-as-you-go cellular broadband connections.
Dell says the XPS 14 is capable of 11 hours worth of battery life and carries a price tag of $1,099 for the baseline model.
Reviewers were fairly tepid on the new Dell. Some highlighted that dropping over $1,000 for a notebook before the Windows 8 parade begins was premature. Others complained about the hefty weight and price tag-for-performance.
