CES: A Hardware Show in an Era of Software

LAS VEGAS — Thousands of companies will roll out millions of products at CES this week. Lights will blink. Glass will shimmer. Screens will illuminate and speakers will reverberate. All the focus on hardware will make it easy to lose sight of what really matters, which is the software that runs on it. As that becomes ever more true, it raises the question of what role the Consumer Electronics Show will play in coming years.
