Do We Want a World Run By Geeks?
Lowe & McArthur, The Guardian
The geeks are taking over the Earth. Sorry, but it's true. We have seen the future and, seemingly unnoticed and unheralded, the techie billionaires, made rich as Croesus by the internet, have taken over absolutely everything. And no one is stopping them because they're so loaded they can virtually bend matter to their will (that's one ultimate aim, anyway). Cutting-edge technologies – genetics, robotics, nanotechnology, computational power – are getting sharper by the day and making the present feel increasingly like the future. And there is not a cutting-edge technology yet invented that is not being sewn up by a frighteningly small clique of Silicon Valley billionaires.
